Welcome to Purr.blog, a website inspired by our two very different cats,

Like many cat owners, we often found ourselves asking questions such as:
- Why does my cat lick me and then bite me?
- Is it normal for cats to get jealous?
- Why do cats sleep in different places on the bed?
- Why does one of our cats play fetch like a dog?
Every time something strange, funny or worrying happened, we’d end up searching online to find out whether it was normal.
That’s how Purr.blog was born.
🐾 Meet Thomasina
Thomasina, or “Tommy”, is a rescue cat from Canberra, Australia, who has been halfway around the world and back again.
She came into our lives in Canberra, moved with us to England and then travelled all the way back to Australia again when we returned home. She’s probably one of the most well-travelled cats you’ll ever meet.
These days, Tommy prefers the simple things in life: sleeping between us near our pillows, sitting on the arm of the sofa and making sure dinner arrives on time.
🐾 Meet Avalon
Avalon is the youngest member of our family and still very much a kitten.
She has endless energy, loves playing fetch with hairbands and sometimes behaves more like a dog than a cat. She also has a habit of licking us and then giving us a little bite, which sent us searching for answers just like many other cat owners.
Avalon usually sleeps near our feet and is currently learning to wear a harness because one day we’d love to safely introduce her to the outdoors.
🐾 Life With Two Indoor Cats
Thomasina and Avalon are indoor cats, and through living with them we’ve learned that every cat has its own personality.
- One cat can be confident while another is cautious.
- One cat can be affectionate while another prefers their own space.
- One cat can be perfectly happy indoors, while another dreams of adventures outside.
We’ve also experienced:
- Introducing a kitten to an older cat
- Jealousy between cats
- Furballs and unexpected trips to the vet
- The true cost of owning cats
- And even a mysterious neighbour’s cat who kept visiting our house and once climbed out of our wheelie bin!
🐾 Why We Started Purr.blog
Purr.blog isn’t written by vets or animal behaviourists.
It’s written by cat owners who love their cats and are constantly learning new things about them.
Our goal is simple:
To help cat owners better understand and enjoy life with their cats through real experiences, practical advice and a few funny stories along the way.
If you’ve ever wondered whether your cat’s behaviour is normal, chances are we’ve wondered the same thing too.
Thanks for visiting, and we hope you enjoy following the adventures of Thomasina, Avalon and the occasional appearance of the neighbour’s cat.
